Terms of Service

Last updated: 9 October 2026

1. The service

EcoScore is operated by Timmie Hemmingsson, a sole trader in Sweden trading as Vireo, at Vistorp Kullen 1, 521 95 Kättilstorp, Sweden, reachable at support@aver-web.se. EcoScore helps you estimate, track, and reduce your carbon footprint through a questionnaire, visualizations, challenges, and social comparison. By creating an account you agree to these terms. You must be at least 18 years old.

2. Estimates, not measurements

Footprint values are estimates built from emission factors that each carry their source in the app. Most are published figures — Ember via Our World in Data, the US EPA, Poore & Nemecek via Our World in Data, Naturvårdsverket. Thirty of the 195 are our own derived estimates, marked as such: they are per-item consumer figures that no inventory body publishes, and we would rather say so than cite a source that does not contain the number. National averages come from EU EDGAR, the EPA and the World Bank. None of it is for regulatory compliance, ESG disclosure obligations, or offset accounting, and actual emissions vary with individual circumstances.

3. Accounts

4. Subscriptions

5. Acceptable use

Don't abuse the service: no falsified challenge completions to manipulate leaderboards, no harassment of other users, no reverse engineering, no use that violates applicable law. We may suspend or close an account that materially breaks these rules; where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right, and if we close a paid account for any reason other than your breach we refund the remaining prepaid period.

6. Teams and privacy

Team admins see aggregate team statistics only. Joining a team never exposes your individual footprint to the team unless you separately enable social sharing. Team subscriptions are purchased by the team creator and cover all members up to the seat limit.

7. Intellectual property

EcoScore, its design, and content are ours or our licensors'. Emission-factor data comes from public/open sources and remains subject to their licenses. You retain rights to the data you enter; you grant us a license to process it to run the service.

8. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is". Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury, for anything caused deliberately or by gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited under law, and nothing in them removes your statutory consumer rights. Subject to the exceptions above, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 500 kronor.

9. Changes and termination

We may update these terms with at least 30 days' notice by email. If you do not accept a change, you may cancel before it takes effect and we refund the remaining prepaid period; if the change materially impairs a paid plan, you may end the subscription for that reason within 30 days of the later of our notice and the change taking effect, with the same refund. You do not have to delete your account to do either, and no change reduces your rights under Swedish law — konsumentköplagen (2022:260) governs changes we make to the service itself. We may discontinue the service with 60 days' notice; prepaid, undelivered periods will be refunded.

10. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by Swedish law. Consumers retain the protections of the country where they live. Disputes go to the courts of Sweden or, for consumers, your local competent court. Before starting legal proceedings, please write to us — most things are settled that way. You can also take a dispute to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (Allmänna reklamationsnämnden, ARN) at arn.se, or ARN, Box 174, 101 23 Stockholm. ARN decides whether it can examine the dispute under its own rules; current information about its application fee, value thresholds, time limits and exceptions is on arn.se. If ARN examines the dispute, we take part in the proceedings and we follow its recommendation.
